Commonly referred to as “Privacy Glass” it is an electrical process called “deep dipping” that involves dying the glass with a dark pigment to reduce the visible light.
With a common visual light transmission (VLT) of 15% – 25%, privacy glass or factory tint is installed to provide passengers and personal items privacy from outsiders, hence the name “Privacy Glass”
Unlike window film, it doesn’t provide the same Ultraviolet (UV) protection or heat reduction qualities and when made from toughened glass it is designed to shatter on impact when breakage occurs.
Window film offers 99% UV protection against both UVA and UVB rays and will hold any broken glass in place in case of breakage
As Privacy Glass is commonly between 15% – 25% and passenger vehicles are restricted to 20% VLT on all windows rearward of the driver, we can only install clear window films which will not change the darkness of the glass.
By adding any film to your vehicles glass we will add safety in case of breakage and maximum UV protection.
For more than a decade, Opti-Coat has been setting the industry standard with our unique coating technologies.
We develop and manufacture proprietary resins utilising our Silicon Carbide (SiC) chemistry. Our purpose is to provide our clients with a product that is the most durable, innovative and protective coating available.
Opti-Coat has been independently tested to Australian Standards by the Commonwealth Scientific & Industrial Research Organisation and exceeds operational and safety standards for The Boeing Company.
This difference in performance means one layer of SiC based resin would last longer than multiple layers of SiO2 or TiO2 resins since SiC resin does not diminish over time. Furthermore, since the SiC bond is harder and more inert, it does not allow chemicals to penetrate and damage the substrate it is applied to.
For these reasons we chose to develop the Opti-Coat resins using SiC as the polymer backbone. This has resulted in the Opti-Coat line of clear coats providing the best protective properties to automotive finishes since their release in 2008.
